Steering Committee Assumes Responsibilities

It is the hope of Vista Grande Community Church to allow every member to be part of decision making AND it is the desire of the congregation to work by consensus. We recognize, however, that sometimes votes must be taken, and that in order for the church to grow in faithful service to our Lord, some folks must be charged with the task of managing the affairs of the church.

We call that group the Steering Committee.

Managing the affairs of the church is only a minor role of the Steering Committee. More importantly, they are charged with the responsibilities of exploring and offering ways to act out the Church’s vision and goals, and with keeping the membership informed of its actions and opportunities for ministry.

The Steering Committee members, made up of the 4 members and 5 officers, were installed into his/her respective offices at our Annual Meeting in January.

Visions

The Steering Committee met on Saturday January 29th and developed the following vision statements to elaborate the vision statement on the home page in the areas of worship, education and mission.

Worship

VGCC seeks to provide a welcoming, participatory worship, based on the Gospels of Jesus. While worship style may vary from traditional to contemporary, our worship will inspire us on our faith journey by being uplifting, mentally challenging, socially relevant to our daily lives lived out in our community.

Education

VGCC will provide stimulating, participatory educational experiences for all ages – children, youth and adults. Shared discoveries may include bible studies, study of church history, literature and other media that nurture our spiritual growth. While our educational experiences may be held at different venues we will seek to connect our learning to our daily lives.

Mission

Mission / outreach is an integral part of VGCC ministries. We will pursue opportunities that are denominational and ecumenical, local and global, participatory and financial. Our mission and outreach will make a difference – empowering recipients and inspiring givers to act in the spirit of Christ.
