6 p.m. – Potluck Supper with Dr. Kathryn Hall Trujillo, Featured Speaker.
Kathryn is the founder and Director of a national Comprehensive Women’s Health Care Clinic.
She has traveled with several caravans to Cuba and has taken part in an in-depth study of
the Cuban health care system. She also actively recruits US students from the African-American,
Latino, and Native-American communities to study medicine at Cuba’s School of Medicine.
Plan to come to VGCC for dinner (potluck style) on Wednesday, July 14.
On July 18 as part of the Gay Pride celebration, we will have a pulpit exchange with First Congregational Church (FCC) United Church of Christ. Pastor Kim will be preaching at FCC and Benjamin Broadbent will be preaching at VGCC. Rev. Broadbent is working on his Doctorate of Ministry in preaching so this should be a real treat. After the worship service, everyone who wants can head to the intersection of Cache La Poudre and Tejon to march in the pride parade. We will be marching with First Congregational with our own sign. We will also be making Vista Grande T-shirts for everyone who marches plus anyone else who wants a pride t-shirt. Look for a signup sheet with the cost in the fellowship hall.
On July 25, we will hold an inquirers session after worship. We have two types of membership at Vista Grande Community Church (VGCC): full membership and associate membership. Associate membership is perfect for someone who wishes to retain his or her membership in another church but who also wishes to be connected to VGCC. At the inquirers’ session, Pastor Kim and a few lay people will talk about VGCC and the United Church of Christ, explain membership here, and answer questions.
This group meets Wednesday evenings from 7:00 ~ 8:00 p.m. at Vista Grande Community Church.
The purpose and mission of this ministry is to combine the care and love of knitting into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort.
After more than 3 years in this ministry, we are still continuing to receive lots of yarn and have industrious women constructing more gifts with loving attention and fellowship.
The yarn is blessed before its knitted; the knitters, knotters, and fringers are blessed to fulfill this ministry; and the completed shawls are blessed before given away. We have knit over 100 prayer shawls and counting. These shawls are presented to congregation members, visitors, friends, family members, and hospital patients; wherever there is a need for added blessings in times of illness, recovery, loss and even joy.
You are invited to join our shawl ministry. The more knitters and knotters we have, the more blessings will be shared throughout the world. If you have any questions, please call Donna at the church office at 719-599-3057.
